Notre Dame des Neiges Abbey was founded in 1850 by Trappist monks from the Cistercian-Trappist abbey of Notre-Dame d’Aiguebelle. It is situated at an altitude of 1100 metres in the Ardèche mountains, in the commune of St Laurent les Bains.
It’s a haven of beauty and peace.

For 170 years, until 2022, the abbey was occupied by elderly Trappist monks who were no longer sufficiently numerous to maintain and administer the site. They retired and were replaced on 1 December 2022 by Cistercian nuns from Boulaur Abbey.
Outside the services, the sisters devote themselves to manual work: for, says St Benedict, “it is then that they will truly be monks, when they will live by the work of their hands, following the example of our fathers and the Apostles”.
If necessary, you can add a description of the bas-relief on the life of Jesus Christ and Charles de Foucauld, located in the adoration chapel,
Dans la Chapelle de l’adoration se trouve un Bas relief qui présente en paralléle des ilustrations de la vie de Jésus-Christ et en dessous des scénes de la vie de Charles de Foucauld,
